hurl the thunderbolts

I think that it has been said that history and drama are closely related and the play that I saw tonight proved it. The play that I saw was Mary Stuart and it made wonder what modern Americans would think of politics if our leaders were as charismatic and cruel. Somehow I can't imagine a play being written hundreds of years later about the exploits of the current president. Today too much of the manipulations of the government are hidden from the people through the smoke and mirrors of television.

Before tonight I probably knew more about Queen Elizabeth than I did her cousin Mary Stuart, but now I'd have to say that both of them must have been amazing women in their time. They had strong personalities and were strong women in a time when it wasn't that common. A biography of Queen Elizabeth has been on my list of books to read for a while and maybe one of Mary should be added to round out the other side.

I read online that Galileo is going to be sent into the crushing atmosphere of Jupiter and I am still amazed at what science can achieve. To think that that piece of equipment has been traveling through space for years taking photos of things that I will never see.
