elizabeth and mary

With the Elizabethan era still lingering in my mind from having seen the play Mary Stuart on Friday, I decided to watch the Cate Blanchett film Elizabeth before I went to work tonight. I'd seen the movie a couple of times before and liked it, but I wanted to see how it compared to the play that I had just seen. Plus the events in the film preceded the plot of the play and gave an earlier version of Elizabeth before she had gained the throne. I wanted to piece that part of Elizabeth's life with the woman that I saw in the play.

I've read that there are historical inaccuracies in the film, but I couldn't tell you where they were in the story. The one discrepancy that I could see would be that Walsingham didn't kill Mary Stuart the way that it was depicted in the film, but the rest are a mystery to me.
