listening to richard Since I'll be seeing Richard III this coming Friday I decided to watch the Ian McKellen film version again. Yes, I know that it isn't the same as reading the play, but I don't have that much free time with class taking up two days of my three day weekend. In fact I had to watch it in parts, because I can't seem to find two hours of a day where I can just sit in front of the television. Some of the more famous lines came back to me in an instant once I heard them, but it was good to see the dynamics of the plot again. Even though the play isn't completely factual when it comes to the physical characteristics of Richard, it does give a good example of how confusing politics were during that time. The throne was everything and people were willing to do whatever they had to do to achieve it. |
