freeze warnings already

Last night for the first time in months, we dropped down to that magic temperature where water becomes ice. I didn't really notice except for the brief moment where I stood out on my deck before sunrise this morning and looked up at the stars shining in the distance. Standing there I remembered what winter felt like and knew that it was coming.

By this afternoon that memory of chilled air was long gone and I parked near the lake so that I could have a more scenic walk to class. This hasn't been a very active summer for me so any amount of exercise that I can squeeze into my daily life is worthwhile to me. Besides parking near the lake isn't monitored by the parking police and I could take my time getting back to my car after class.

On foot I got a much better look at Shorewood and I've come to the conclusion that it is a very odd neighborhood. There's an odd mix of ornate brick buildings complete with home security systems and lesser dwellings that have been demoted to student housing. The division between those who clearly have money and those who are hoping to have money someday is very noticeable.
