threat of rain

Ever since I got back to Wisconsin, one of the most popular topics among people has been rain. It seems that while I was away in Europe it rained every day and the same has been true since I got home. Instead of April showers, the state of Wisconsin has been subjected to May downpours. Seeing rain on a daily basis has become normal and is starting to wear on people.

Now what makes this worth mentioning is the fact that the city of Milwaukee hasn't been able to handle this much rain. More than once their primary rain collection device called the deep tunnel has failed and they have dumped sewage into Lake Michigan and the adjoining rivers. Showing photos of murky brown sections of water creeping from the shore into the rest of Lake Michigan has been a regular feature of the news. Naturally this has not made people happy.

Thankfully today the state was spared anymore rain although the clouds threatened to doing something for most of the day.

With the weather less than inviting I stayed inside and reacquainted myself with the amazing world of anime. My viewing choice for this morning was the three part movie Memories. Of the three stories the one that impressed me the most was the first one called Magnetic Rose directed by Koji Morimoto. Both the art and story worked together in harmony to create something that for me was a perfect short film. My only complaint was that I wished that it was longer. Once it ended I wanted more of the same.
