old photos found

Part of the day was spent looking through the largest box that my parents had brought over for me as part of their upcoming move project. Inside the box were some old papers of mine from high school piled on top of some old shop projects that explain why I do not have a skilled trade job today. Both of those things were nice, but was made me smile was the two albums worth of old photos that I found buried towards the bottom. I can't remember the last time that I saw them.

Now when I say old photos, I am talking about photos that are square instead of a five by seven rectangle shape. I'm not even sure if they make cameras that take those kinds of photos anymore. That kind of technology has probably been long discarded for something else. None of that really matters to me though. I still have these photos that I took when I must have been ten years old. I couldn't ask for a better look into my past than what was important enough to photograph at that young of an age.

Preserved by me are pictures of a family trip out west to see Mt. Rushmore and Yellowstone. I only have vague memories of both sights. It was a later trip to said locations that is sharper in my memory. Seeing those famous sites is pleasant enough, but what makes the stack worthwhile are the personal shots that I took those twenty some years ago.

Caught in the act are my parents kissing with our tent serving as backdrop. They were probably close to my age at the time and look it. I should show them the photo and ask them if that was staged for my benefit or if it was something that I requested. Lately both of them have been saying that they don't feel as young as they used to feel and seeing these photos I know what they mean. They are starting to slow down ever so slightly.

Besides younger version of my parents, I captured my three siblings in what must have been their preschool days. This may or may not be true for everyone, but in mind I have a mental image of my siblings that is always six to seven years younger than their actual age and I'm not sure why either.
