rainy day reading

I'm not sure why I went on as long as I did about the musicians yesterday. I just can't understand how someone would want to sing the same song that they did twenty years ago. No, wait that isn't what I meant either, because most of them are singing new material. More than likely what really bothers me is the fact that seeing them today somewhat alters my memory of them back when I was younger. An aging Bono Vox is not the same as the headstrong version that I knew from the October era. Nor do I feel the need to feel as though I am sixteen again. That part of my life is over.

What probably annoys me the most is the fact that those people have done so much more than I have in the same amount of time. Sigh.

...

Part of the late afternoon was spent reading some 1970's era Legion of Super Heroes issues. These precede the very first issue that I ever read and have great sentimental value to me. The characters were still sporting their new costumes that scream the 1970's to me rather than something that someone might wear in the thirtieth century. This doesn't mean that I am complaining about Phantom Girl walking around in her white jumpsuit with cutouts and bell bottoms. Nor did I mind the pink halter top number that Saturn Girl wore for a number of years. However, I think that my favorite look would have to be Shrinking Violet and her green and black lace outfit.
