playground visit time Tuesdays tend to be hard days for me, because they are the start of my three day weekend. At first that doesn't make sense, but when one takes into consideration the need for sleep, the problem becomes more obvious. I can never make up my mind on how long I should stay awake. Do I want a full day spent in a mental haze or should I go to sleep at noon like I have for the past four days? Today that decision was made for me, because my parents had asked me to watch my niece for part of the day. I had thought about what I could do to entertain my niece and a couple of ideas came to mind almost immediately. Comic books and or an anime movie seemed like good ways to keep her occupied. Then if either of those failed we could always go to the park near my place and let her run around outside and enjoy the weather. Well, in the end we did all three of those things. As for the comic books and anime portion of the day, she brought over a handful of comic books that I had given her and an anime movie. It was as though she knew what I had planned for the day without any prompting on my part. Sadly the movie was too scary for her and we had to pause it. Reading comic books also proved to be a bust. She wanted to read my comic books and not hers. Sigh. Going outside to the park probably worked the best out of all of the things that we did. She could run wherever she wanted and it took little effort on my part to watch her. What was even better was the fact that some other children were there and that was great for her. Suddenly there was someone else to play with instead of just me. I didn't have to do much more than make sure she was playing nice. My biggest trial was trying to stay cool in the July heat. Without a cloud to be seen, the sun added to my lethargy brought on by lack of sleep. |
