something called teamwork

I voluntarily stayed late at work this morning and that surprised me. It wasn't that grand of a gesture, but walking out the door when various problems were popping up everywhere would have been rude to the incoming tech so I stayed to help. Once calm was restored I left and hoped that the adrenalin would be gone by the time that I got home. It wasn't and I had a hard time falling asleep.

...

Even before I walked into the room I knew that I would be busy. With one of the second shift technicians on vacation, the usual flow of things would be running behind. One person tends to get either bogged down in one problem or starts to feel overwhelmed by being alone. So even though twelve hours had elapsed, I walked right back into a new mess of problems without really feeling like I had a break.

Without trying to sound overly dramatic, work was all consuming today, but I guess that that isn't that unusual for a Sunday. Very seldom is it a day of rest for me.
