babylon to baghdad

Last night I chatted online with my sister Hope and as always it was good to hear from her especially now with the holidays so close and her so far away. Recently her unit was moved from Babylon to Baghdad and the change in location seems to have lifted her spirits. Her leaving the camp in Babylon had been expected for some time and was seen as a good thing, because dismantling her old base was or is the first step in her coming home. As of now I think that she has some sixty days left in her tour and then she will be returning to the States.

...

It started yesterday, lasted through the night and continued through most of today with no signs of weakening. What I am talking about is a strong wind from the northwest driving cold air into my place. Gusts of wind in excess of forty-five miles per hour were enough to lower the temperature to sixty-four degrees when I walked into my house this morning after work. That did not make me happy and I quickly adjusted the thermometer on my heat. It needed to be warmer before I could fall asleep. While I was waiting for the temperature to rise, I could see the blinds by my patio window slowly moving from the wind outside. Seeing that made it clear to me where all of the heat was going and was glad that my bedroom is not on the north side of the building. At least it would be warmer in there and free of any drafts.
