not feeling well

My first sign that there was something wrong with me was probably Saturday night before I went to work. I had been asked by my neighbor to spread some salt on the driveway, because it was covered with a thin sheet of ice that eliminated any hope of traction. Soon I found myself throwing salt over the entire parking lot just in case anyone else might feel the need to complain that I neglected them.

Thirty minutes later I had worked up a sweat even though I was only wearing a canvas jacket and not my regular winter one. That was when I should have realized that I was getting sick. Oh, I made it through the night at work without feeling anything unusual, but when I got home in the morning, I had a fever and started to get the shakes. My body was not happy with me and trying to sleep became a chore. Either I would get incredibly hot or my body would shiver almost uncontrollably.

I seriously considered not going to work last night, but decided that I could tough it out. Today I am in what I call stage two of my sick pattern. The pounding headache has given way to a scary cough and my nose expelling large amounts of mucus. Despite the negative sound of both of those things, I see them as a good sign because it means that the virus is making its way through my system. Hopefully I will move into stage three sometime tonight and be back to normal by tomorrow night in time for my weekend.
