indian song dance

Tori Amos released a new album this past Tuesday. I had known for a while that it was coming out, but I didn't get around to sampling any of the songs until today.

Now whenever I download some new songs, I tend to read some reviews on Amazon about what I am getting and found more than a few negative comments about The Beekeeper as I was reading. The general consensus of these comments was that Tori was no longer hip and should just stop making music. These people felt that she joined the ranks of adult contemporary music and had nothing to say to them any more. Part of me can understand what they are saying. She isn't the same young outsider that she was a decade ago when Little Earthquakes was released. In addition to having a loyal following of fans today that almost worship her, I suspect that her outlook on life has probably changed over the years and that she doesn't have to make albums anymore to pay her bills.

Putting aside any issues of whether or not she has sold out and her motivation for making music, I didn't mind what I heard. I will concede the fact that these new songs sound more polished than say the song China, but that doesn't have to be a negative.

Today I watched the Bollywood film Taal with Aishwarya Rai in the lead role and found her to be an interesting contrast to Kareena Kapoor. Both of them are very attractive, but Rai seems more mature to me than Kapoor.
