vladimir and estragon

Even though this play season hasn't ended yet, the Milwaukee Rep is already asking me to renew for this coming 2005-2006 season. Sigh. Why do they feel the need to start begging for money so early? It certainly doesn't endear me to them. To be fair they probably have to start asking now before people get overly distracted by the spring weather and start to forget about the theater. Who wants to sit inside for over two hours when the sun is shining and one can stay outside without shivering?

There are three performance left this season that I have to see and two of them will be before I leave for China. This coming Sunday is The Underpants and then next week Friday is something called Bach at Leipzig. I've never read either play and I am hoping that I will enjoy at least one of them, because overall this has been a very disappointing season. I might even say that the best play that I saw this season was the college production of Waiting for Godot.

Seeing college students was more memorable to me than professional actors and that doesn't say much for the Milwaukee Rep. Maybe it had something to do with an all female cast portraying characters in an all male character play that stayed with me the most.
