snow globe effect Shortly after eight this morning, I got my wish. Snow started to fall and kept coming down into the early part of the afternoon. That was more than enough to cover up the dead grass and make the end of winter more pleasing to the eye. From my sheltered vantage point inside my house, it looked like a pleasant snow, gentle and light. It almost made me want to go outside and get the full experience, but I didn't. The only thing that ruined my quiet vision was the dump trucks going by every so often depositing salt onto the road. Seeing and hearing those trucks took something away from the magic of the moment. ... In a quest to hear more of The Trashcan Sinatras, I went ahead and installed some peer to peer software on my new computer. I almost felt as though I were violating something sacred. Up until that point this innocent machine had been used simply to surf the web. Any downloading had been restricted to images. Software and or music had been off limits. Now all of that has changed. Sigh. I am weak. For me, I view a new computer in the same way that I see a car. I don't want to put any miles on it. I don't want it to get dirty. Nor do I want it to get damaged in any way. |
