must hear music

Once again I was reminded tonight that the Milwaukee Rep and I have very differing opinions on what is funny. Other people in the audience laughed at the play Bach at Leipzig, but I didn't. I suspect that the playwright was going for a Marx Brothers feel, but even if he succeeded in his attempt, I can take that kind of humor in small does only. The word play had some clever moments, but the recurring motif that all of the characters have one of two names grew old very fast.

In my music download frenzy, I not only got the remaining songs from the Trash Can Sinatras' new disc Weightlifting, but I also got some older stuff as well. The biggest choice from the past was Oasis' Champagne Supernova, which has to be the song for me from them. Back when they were new on the scene, I had very mixed feelings about them. All of the hype about them made me sick and I wanted nothing to do with them. I couldn't listen to their music objectively because it was being forced on me wherever I looked. Now a decade later, I can appreciate Champagne Supernova purely on the strength of the song free of any commercial promotion and admit my fondness for it.

Joe Kelly does some nice work with his Justice League Elite book. I remember when it was first announced, but at the time I was leery of adding yet another book to my monthly list. Now thanks to an online auction, I own the entire series at a fraction of the cover price and have some quality reading.
