another depressing film

Seven thirty in the morning and the only thing visible in the sky is a crescent moon. If I hadn't made my way outside to the mailbox, I would have missed it. There wasn't anything overly dramatic by what I saw, but it made me smile. Standing there for a few moments breathing in the crisp air made the day that much more positive for me. It may have been warmer inside my place, but it felt so gloomy compared to being outside.

That seems to be the case with autumn. The sometimes dreary October weather often forces people inside, but once there they can't think of what to do next. No, that isn't true. I know why staying inside seemed overly dismal this morning. I had just finished watching a depressing French film called Vagabond. Seeing this woman live the way that she did was probably the most stark thing that I have seen in a while. Over and over again she told the people that she met that it was something that she chose, but it didn't seem to make her happy.
