Nine hours

Today got off to a good start, because I had a solid nine hours of sleep behind me. Last night I decided to collapse at nine o'clock. I couldn't think of any real reason to stay awake so I just gave in to my body. It had been craving sleep for days and I was ready to meet its demands.

I am still sleeping on either the couch or the floor and it really doesn't bother me. I have priced a few sofa sleepers, but I'm in no real hurry to bring one home. It might be more of an issue when it gets colder. Nothing is better than burrowing under a small pile of blankets in the middle of winter, but for now the couch or floor is enough for me. Besides its not as though I have to make room for someone else.

I broke with my usual habit and went to the laundromat in the morning. The daytime crowd is so different from the regulars at night. Its an older crowd mixed in with some mothers and their small children. I prefer the night scene, because its more quiet and less busy.

Here I am describing a laundromat as though it were a bar. Something tells me that I need to get out more and have some fun. Actually I am learning to relax again. The idea of just lounging around my house and reading is starting to sound more appealing to me again. Oh, I am sure that I will still go out from time to time, but I shouldn't feel bad about staying home either. Just because I read a book instead of running around at night doesn't have to make me feel like a freak.

Time stands still for me on a night like tonight. A crescent moon shines in the southern sky as a mild breeze every so often stirs the fallen leaves. Winter isn't here yet and I can sit outside at night without a jacket.

Once again I think that I am going to go to sleep early tonight. Sleep can be so wonderful and I think that is what I need right now.
