Mars and the moon Since I had no real desire to join hundreds of others in a shopping frenzy, I spent most of the morning milling about my house and at first this was fine. I was content to just lounge around the house not doing much of anything, but that changed later in the day. The seeds of discontent started to grow in the afternoon. Then by the time that evening had fell, I was completely restless. I had reached the point where nothing would appeal to me and a part of me felt that I had wasted the whole day. The fact that it was Friday night really seemed to bother me for some reason. I wasn't wading through the mental fog that I had yesterday. In my frustration to get out of the house and burn off some excess energy, I went for a walk around my neighborhood in the early evening. As I walked along the sidewalk, the planet Mars shone brightly near the moon in the night sky. It was warm outside and didn't even feel like late November. In my walk, I first passed a small group of teenage boys standing around and later a woman walking her dog. Then on the return portion of my walk, I passed two small children carrying toys. I started to wonder what they doing and where they were going. Then I saw a woman further down the sidewalk behind them. At first I thought that she was watching them. I was going to say something to her about the children, but then I got a closer look at the woman. She was about my age and didn't seem to have to do anything with the children. In the corner of my eye, I saw that she had short blonde hair and was wearing red jeans. Then as we passed one another her perfume lingered after her, which I wasn't expecting. I started to wonder if she was coming back from a party or was she just wandering around like me. All of this seemed strange to me as I went back home to lie down.
