In bed by eleven The only downside of my birthday yesterday was the weather. It turned cold and wet as I drove to meet Dan and his soon to be wife at the restaurant. Soon I was caught in what I like to think of as the hyperspace effect with falling snowflakes filling in for passing stars. The illusion of non-movement as I drove was very disorienting and calming at the same time. It was good to see Dan again. The students voted the most friendly (Dan) and the most intelligent (um, that would be me) of our high school class were reunited. It was a good reunion and I am happy to say that we get along just as well as we did when we were in high school. The two of them had got to the restaurant before me and were waiting at a table for me. However, when I got there I didn't see them. Actually I did see his soon to be wife, but I had never met her before so it didn't matter. Dan was hidden from my view by a post. It wasn't until he wandered to the front of the restaurant by the bar that he found me. I know that it sounds odd, but I think that Dan made a good choice for his wife. I am sure that he doesn't worry about my approval, but I do like her. She is bright and attractive and I found talking to her more enjoyable than my last girlfriend. Julie has an interest in the arts which makes the conversation much easier on me. There are moments when I forget how much I like the arts. The people at work really don't discuss those kinds of things and neither did my last girlfriend. So most of the time I just ramble on here about what has caught my attention lately. Last night I actually had some face to face interaction. My good mood from yesterday managed to carry over into today which was nice. It wasn't from the alcohol either. I just got an early start on the day and the sun was shining as I lounged around the house. Most of the morning was spent reading the final pages of The Land Remembers which I finally finished. Then late in the afternoon the books that I had ordered from Daedalus Book arrived. I was looking through them when my mom called to see if wanted to install Mac OS 8.5 on their iMac and pick up my birthday present while I was there. The install was simple enough to do and I came back home with a copy of Good Will Hunting as a present.
