not indiana jones

When I walked out of work this morning, I knew exactly what I wanted to do. Somewhat surprisingly I had actually made some kind of plan for my weekend rather than just kind of fumbling through the day. Lately I have been just kind of letting them happen and regretting it later. Usually the time slips away from me and the next thing that I know is that I have to go back to work. I suppose that this doesn't make me that different from other people, but I still find it to be mildly depressing.

I went to the theater this afternoon and saw a movie for the first time in weeks and it felt good. I just wanted to see an Indiana Jones type of film, something fun and not too complicated and The Mummy seemed to meet those requirements. I was expecting some camp and special effects and that is what I got. None of the plot was a surprise and most of the characters were stereotypes, but that didn't really detract from the movie.

Brendan Frasier isn't Harrison Ford, but he did okay. In previous films he was a cave man and then he was George of the jungle, so I wasn't expecting much from him. He always seems like a big dumb ox with a huge jaw. At least Rachel Weisz was easy on the eyes.

I can't imagine what the crowd would have been like if I had gone on Friday night as I had planned originally. The theater was almost full which I found surprising for a Sunday matinee.
