a section of an Andrew Wyeth painting

then and now

Early this morning I exchanged lengthy emails with someone who was a close friend of mine in college. I hadn't heard from him for a few months so it was nice to hear what was new with him.

Six years ago when we were in college, both of us spent many hours in the studio working on various art projects. It was a part of daily life. Now neither of us does any art. He is too busy being a husband and father, while I spread my time doing various activities. What was once the focus of our lives seldom happens now.

Both of our lives have changed a great deal since college and that is to be expected. What I do find interesting is how different our lives are now, when they used to be so similiar. I guess as long as we are both happy it doesn't really matter what we are doing.

Four new books from Amazon were waiting for me when I woke this afternoon.
