bubble of cool air Buying that air conditioner was a very wise move on my part. Even though the whole week has been hot and muggy, it has had no affect on me. Sleep has not been a problem no matter how hot it got outside. When I am inside my blanket of cool air, I am completely oblivious to what is happening outside my windows. Along with the warm weather has come thunderstorm watches and warnings on a daily basis. I think each day that I woke up, there was some kind of warning scrolling across the television screen. The counties listed varied some each time, but the idea was the same. Instead of seeing a setting sun when I looked out the window, lightning graced the sky. Other than my victory over the weather very little else new has happened. There was one thing on the news that caught my attention though. It seems that if they don't get enough funding, Russia is going to let Mir enter the atmosphere next February and burn up. They just can't afford to keep it in orbit anymore. Oh, I know that this is a real blow to the ego of the Russian government, but I find it rather exciting. It makes me think of pieces of Skylab landing in Australia. Actually it makes me think of the movie Dogs in Space with Michael Hutchence, where a group of people gathered waiting for pieces to fall from the sky. The demise of Skylab wasn't the point of the film, but it gave the heroin addicts in the movie something to do.
