caspar melchior balthazar Since I was raised Protestant, I am attracted and repelled by Catholicism at the same time. All of the pomp and ceremony that bores most people I find highly entertaining. Just the thought of having someone talk to me in Latin for hours on end would take the whole experience to another level. Then there are a few basic concepts that come with their spin on religion that I still find to be confusing. For example the idea of the pope is still a little fuzzy to me and strikes me as being a purely political creation. From what I understand he is supposed to be the keeper of the keys to heaven as Jesus made Peter so many years ago. Martin Luther said never mind with this middle man idea of saints and hierarchy and gave people a direct connection to god which sounds much more personal to me. Another prop of Catholicism that I don't understand would be the rosary. For me it is a complete mystery that no one has ever explained. Now before anyone starts to think that I see Catholicism as a joke, I should mention that most of my relatives are Catholic and I could just as easily been one as well. Insert approximately twelve hours of time here as our hero goes to work and then does his laundry the following morning. Fell asleep on the couch and the sun warmed me as I slept. It wasn't supposed to happen that way and it all ended too soon. Maybe I should give some more thought to moving my bed into the livingroom for the winter. Christmas is odd, but so are most holidays in America. People want to have fun. People want to party. People want to feel as though they are truly alive. People want so much in life, but so often get so little.
