feel the cold

After sleeping for a solid eight hours, I felt the most focused that I had in days. Despite the fact that I haven't gotten caught up in the holiday craze just yet, each day of this week has been very busy for me. Ordinary chores such as doing my laundry kept getting pushed off to the next day until I finally got around to it this morning. Then at work they've been giving me one project after another making the week go by incredibly fast which is something that I suspect will continue into the next week.

With the temperature staying under the freezing mark for the past few days, I have the feeling that winter has finally arrived in Wisconsin and I love it. Heat makes me feel lethargic, but something about the cold makes me feel more alive. With the cold there is a a clarity in the air that can't be found in the hazy heat of summer. Everything outside seems more pure to me. Now all that we need is a fresh blanket of snow so that I can see the landscape as a pale blue glow under the moon at night.

I was going to get a Christmas tree this year, since I never got around to it last year, but I am beginning to think that I am running out of time. Sunday and Monday are probably the last two chances that I'll have before Christmas.

So much has changed within the past year and I have to say that I feel good about where I am in life compared to where I was a year ago. Things are under control and I have better understanding of who I am and what I want from life. I try to get more from what I do and as soon as the holidays are over, I'll start working on my trip to Europe again.
