the best is yet to come

So often my life seems to waver between me feeling totally confident in myself to feeling utterly lost on as to what I want to do next with my life. There are days when I tell myself that yes I am doing fine and that life is good. Then the next day I'll be wondering why there are so many other things that could be better about my life.

There is some talk at work about me changing my schedule. They think that I should work one day a week during the day to get some more experience. I can see this as being a good thing for the company, but I'm not so sure if it the best thing for me. Summer is here and I don't want to spend part of a month bouncing my work and sleep schedule. I truly believe that I will come out on the losing end.

Wednesdays have never been very productive days for me. After making the transition back to a third shift pattern, my energy level is pretty low for most of the day. Actually through most of winter, Wednesday nights were spent watching hours of television. I would crawl out of bed at around six in the evening surf the web for about an hour and then head for the couch.

The first show in the lineup at seven was Dawson's Creek. After that ended I watched Star Trek Voyager at eight. Then finally at nine it was Law and Order. It was a nice blend of three very different genres and it was an okay way to pass the time. Now with summer here all three of those programs are in reruns and I thought that I would be free to do other things. Unfortunately that isn't what happened. With the rain still coming down, I sat back to watch part of the new adventure show Survivor and then winced through most of the animated Clerks.

I loved the movie Clerks when it came out back in 1994, but the formula doesn't work as well in an animated format. Most if not all of the humor has been lost. Having the actors do the voices helps the program a little, but it isn't enough. I doubt that the program will last into the fall.

At work I revamped my itinerary for Europe. Our package finally gave us some more times and I can definitely say that we will be on the move.

An avid reader at work suggested that I read Brightness Falls by Jay McInerney, but I couldn't find a copy of it at Half Price Books and decided to settle for Bright Lights, Big City. I vaguely remember the Michael J. Fox movie that came out years ago, so I doubt that that will affect my reading of the book. So far I like what I have read.
