summer continues I woke in time to sit out on my porch and watch the sky grow more and more dark with a gentle summer storm rolling in from the west. Lightning could be seen on the edge of the front and something about watching the sky build with energy was very appealing to me. I imagine that the practical thing for me to have done would have been to go inside, but I didn't. Nor from what I saw around me was I the only person who was watching the storm make its approach. Various neighbors were also sitting outside waiting to see what would happen next. The storm wasn't overly violent, but it was enough to keep my attention until the first drops forced me into the house. It was a great way for me to start my day. ... I took a look back at what I was doing a year ago and two things immediately caught my attention. First of all I noticed that I was getting ready for my trip to Nova Scotia. At the time I didn't know what to expect, but I shouldn't have been worried, because I had a fun time. In fact I enjoyed it so much that I hope to go back there again sometime in the future. The second thing that I noticed was that a year ago I was complaining about the heat and how I finally got an air conditioner to alleviate some of my suffering. Now I don't even have to think about it anymore, because the landlord had central air installed earlier this year. ... There might be some subtles changes happening on the work front, because I was just told that they hired someone to replace the person that had left the second shift slot in our department. Up until I heard the news I had quietly resigned myself to the fact that it might be a long time before they hired someone new and fully expected to have more work to do because of it. Now all of that has changed and I can relax again. Of course I have yet to meet the new person, but I still think that it will be nice to have someone new in the department. Things were becoming far too stagnant and I was getting tired of the same people saying the same things about each other.
