the heavens opened I knew that it was supposed to rain today, but I didn't expect it to last as long as it did. Not once did I see the sun. The only light in the sky came from the lightning, which isn't quite the same thing. As late as noon, the weatherman kept saying that the sun would appear by four in the afternoon, but it didn't happen. The rain continued to fall with the lightning and thunder heralding its arrival. Despite the onslaught of rain I did venture out to do some chores. There were library books to return and I needed to purchase some bathroom supplies. Then on my way back home, I managed to stop at a travel agency to get some price quotes. It seems that flying to Australia will cost me at least fifteen hundred dollars. Someone else had told me the same thing, but I guess that I needed to hear it for myself. Then again I paid far less than what everyone had been quoting me for Europe earlier this summer, so my final price might be much lower. Whatever the final cost might be, it seems that a three hour layover in Los Angeles is almost a given. At one time during my shopping spree, the rain was coming down so hard that I decided to linger in the store longer than I needed and ended up making a few impulse buys. I ended up going home with some new movies to watch. Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid and The Usual Suspects are now part of my movie collection.
