white sunday morning Maybe someone heard me complaining about the weather yesterday, because it snowed last night and part of today. All of the dull grime has been covered over with a fresh layer of white once again and it makes the scenery bearable. ... Ann was a little hurt that I didn't start massaging her neck and shoulders when I got into work Saturday night. Actually I had just returned with a soda for her and she wanted to know why I didn't let her know how cold the soda was by putting my hand on her neck. Yes, as juvenile and as silly as it sounds this is usually what I do. I can't be serious all of the time. My excuse was that she was wearing her hair down so I couldn't reach her neck as easily. No exposed flesh equals no touching. Somehow that sounds incredibly conservative and or repressed. I'm not sure which is worse either. ... Ann is going for a job interview on Tuesday and put me down as a reference which is fine with me. Obviously I am one of her biggest supporters and I know that she could be making more money working somewhere else. Naturally I would miss her, but I want what is best for her and even encouraged her to look for another job. She truly likes the people in our department, but she had been promised more money when she was hired and that hasn't happened yet. When she gets another job she is even willing to work for our company as a second job which I would find to be incredibly funny. Of course they might see that as an insult or contrary to their plan and refuse. Last year they let go our part time people without thinking about how it would affect the rest of the department. Added stress with less people didn't seem to be an issue and the one full time person that they did hire as a replacement is less than competent. When I pass the exam on Monday I hope to follow her in leaving the company. Both of us know that they are not going to increase our salaries. It just isn't going to happen. They would rather let us go and hire someone new at a lower cost than keep us. It makes good business sense and money is money. Freedom is so close.
