Nicole got to spend the night working in my area and naturally I enjoyed the time that I spent with her. Unlike most nights I didn't have to make a special trip to see her. Instead I could just walk a few feet and be near her. Yes, that may sound a little sad on my part, but she truly is one of the bright spots in my life and being able to be with her for more than half an hour was something that I needed.

She didn't mention what had happened to her at home on Tuesday and neither did I. It made sense to me that she would keep that to herself and she had other things that she wanted to tell me instead.

She had received a complaint at her place about the noise. It seems that her voice can be heard during the day and she was asked to keep it down. Sigh. I had always suspected that she might be slightly different at home than at work, but I still felt for her. She then went on to explain that her and her fiance don't argue that much, but what the people probably hear is her yelling at her dog. She also sheepishly admitted that she yells at her son.

In the "it really is a small world after all" department, I saw my best friend from my childhood on television. He was being interviewed about bacteria in water bottles. It seems that some people have a habit of buying a bottle of water, drinking it and then filling it back up with tap water. Then they do this over and over again without thinking about what might be collecting at the bottom of the bottle. My friend who is now a micro biologist was the one who examined the contents of the bottles.

Seeing him for the first time in over a decade was odd. Here was this person that I knew from first to eighth grade giving a very serious discussion about health matters. It was an odd experience.

When I knew him he was much more of a jock and here he was today wearing a white lab coat and looking very professor from Gilligan's Island. In fact when he first got out of high school I was told that he was doing construction work and there was no mention of college in his future. Something must have changed over the years.

As with most of my friends from grade school, I lost contact with him during my high school years. Most of them went to the religious high school while I went to the public one my freshman year and then moved out of the city for the remaining three.

On the pop culture front I rented and watched David Lynch's Mulholland Drive. I knew nothing about the movie before I started watching it and I think that that helped me to enjoy the film. Oh, I expected a certain otherworldly feel to it since this was created by the same man who brought Twin Peaks to television over a decade ago, but the story itself was new to me.

...

I wish that I had a better excuse for the late upload times for the entries, but the best that I can give is that I have been very busy and tired when I get home from work.

I got a reject letter for a job that I wanted and that just seemed to add to the overall mood of the day. Maybe I get partial credit for trying to change my life, but at the same time I need a break from everything.
