counting the days When I went over to visit my parents last night, I bought with me the Justine Shapiro segment that I had taped. My mom enjoyed it. She also seemed to like my new idea of escaping the country and my current job at the same time. After my parents went to sleep, I lingered at their place for most of the night watching taped episodes of ER and reading the latest issue of Entertainment Weekly which had a cover story about Episode II. Honestly, my expectations for Episode II are so low that as long as they don't break out into song, I'd probably sit through anything. Lucas confirmed some things that I already suspected about the film. The man likes to repeat themes and what this means is that we'll get to see Anakin lose a hand just like Luke did or will if you want to put the events in chronological order. We'll also get to se another variation of the famous twin sunset shot that every fan knows and loves to some degree. ... Maybe seeing Justine Shapiro making her way through south west China triggered something in my mind. Whatever the cause might be, I decided to get copies of both Raise the Red Lantern and The Last Emperor on DVD. For years I've loved both films, but had copies of neither of them. Hopefully they should turn up in my mail in the next few days. ... Someone asked me if I had been checking the weather in the European cities that I'll be visiting soon and I had here and there. What I found is that most if not all of them are warmer than where I am.
