another mild winter

I did not sleep well last night and I wonder why I try on my days off. A third shift schedule is what works best for me. Besides I'd rather miss the worst part of the day sleeping than have a dream where some object impacts my skull. Something must have happened while I was sleeping, because my head hurt where it had been struck in the dream. As to what that might have been on my couch that could have hurt me, I have no idea.

...

I called Nicole this morning, but no one answered. I thought about trying back later, but I never did. Friday night will come soon enough and we'll get to spend some time together in our usual way.

...

It took longer than I had planned, but I finally made it out my house at noon today. After making my way into the city, I returned some things at the library and left with some new movies to watch. Both of them were Shakespeare with one being modern and the other very traditional. I started with the modern one first.

Most of the Amazon reviews of the Ethan Hawke version of Hamlet were unkind, but as for me I liked what I saw. He wasn't Olivier or even Branagh, but that wasn't what I was expecting. I just wanted to see something new and maybe different and I did.

Some of the best parts of the movie included the ghost of his father making an appearance on surveillance cameras. I thought that it was clever and Sam Shepard had to be the best ghost that I had ever seen. He wasn't grisly, but noble and I liked that change. Of course other parts were just as they should be and that meant an angry yet likable Laertes and the drowned Ophelia played by the charming if not slightly subdued Julia Stiles. Plus Rosencrantz and Guildenstern were still idiots even in modern dress.

...

I am still trying to accept the fact that I won't have class this semester. Most people are able to get by just having a job, but I need to find other things to keep me busy these next few months.
