not rushing september

Being back on campus is nice and once again it offsets any concerns that work might create for me. When I am in class, I get to be around people who aren't crushed by the day to day monotony of the business world. There is hope and expectation in the room and I can't help but absorb some of that feeling.

...

I was thinking some more about how my parents said that the summer went by so quickly and in some ways I can see what they mean. When I went to get my photos developed a week or so ago, there were Halloween supplies out on display and it depressed me. From my perspective the end of October is still over a month away yet the retail world wants to control the calendar. I was half expecting to see Christmas stuff down another aisle before I left the store.

Personally I don't feel the need to rush through the rest of the year and drown in the holiday madness. There are other things on my mind besides the end of the year. For example, starting next week I'll be seeing my first play at the Milwaukee Rep this year and another one the following week. Plus I imagine that the pace at school will start to get more intense in the coming weeks so I will have more than enough to do than worry about the end of the year.

Beside what happened to enjoying the changing of the seasons?
