hot air balloon Early this morning I was able to get a little further along in Margaret Atwood's novel Oryx and Crake. It took a hundred pages into the book, but the title characters of the book were finally introduced by the somewhat unbalanced narrator. Before I reached that point, both of them were only mentioned briefly by said speaker and I was starting to get a little annoyed. What small hints I had been given weren't enough. Neither of the title characters has said anything yet or actually appeared in the book, but I am guessing that that is going to happen within the next one hundred pages. If that doesn't happen and the entire book is told in flashback sequences, I think that I am going to be very disappointed. Both of them sound incredibly interesting and I want to get inside their heads rather than hearing about them from the narrator. ... My parents went for a hot air balloon ride this morning and they loved it. For an hour and twenty minutes, they and eight other people rode in the basket thirteen hundred feet in the air where they could see deer down below. I am glad to hear that my parents had a nice time, but I'm not quite sure if I envy them or not. Traveling by plane has never bothered me be it a private plane or commercial jet, but having a piece of glass between me and the ground when any great height is involved is something that I prefer. |
