cookie dough vocals

For some unknown reason I felt the urge to listen to some Bruce Springsteen music tonight. Now I don't own his entire catalog of albums, but I do have all of his stuff prior to Born in the U.S.A. His first highly eclectic discs are so different from his current work and in many ways I prefer it. I sampled Devils and Dust, but it doesn't feel the same to me as Nebraska even though I suspect that he was trying for a similar effect. That lonesome angry voice that he created on such songs as Johnny 99 is not something that one hears everyday, nor would I want that to be the case.

So this afternoon to curb my odd craving, I sampled both Lucky Town and Human Touch. I remember when these two albums were released simultaneously years ago at the end of my college career, but at that time neither one appealed enough to me to purchase. Sadly now having heard both of them, I have to say that that still holds true.
