twelve cent books Even though I know that it is supposed to warm up again next week, today truly felt like winter complete with some occasional snow showers. ... I've read that many people consider the Jim Shooter era of the Legion of Super Heroes to be a high point in their long and varied career. Now thanks to a recent lot of books that I bought online, I have been able to experience them for myself. Even those these issues have been collected in hardcover editions by DC, the chance to own some of the original issues was something that I could not resist. What makes the purchase even sweeter is that I have some key issues in the group. By pure luck I managed to obtain a copy of the very first appearance of The Dominators. Seeing them in a book that was almost forty years old was very odd for me. By the time that I started reading the book with any regularity they were well-established foes of the team. Obviously the level of storytelling is not as mature as what one expects from a book today, but the appeal of the characters is still very strong. |
