Michelangelo sibyl from the Sistine Chapel

More often than not, life is nothing more than a series of mundane moments and today would be a prime example. Instead of anything thought provoking happening to me, most of my day revolved around the fact that I didn't have any hot water in my house. My reset ritual on the hot water heater failed to do the trick. Then to get a better look, I opened the bottom panel and watched as the pilot light lit, burned for a few moments and then went out. Obviously no water was going to get heated that way.

To me this was more of an annoyance than a crisis. On the other hand I can say that a person doesn't appreciate hot water until they they have to go without it. Simple things like bathing and washing dishes suddenly become a problem. For me a few dirty dishes piling up are much easier to take than not being able to shower. I can not stand walking around with my hair all matted down or sticking out at odd angles. Throwing on a baseball cap has never been an option for me. In fact I don't even own a baseball cap. Then there is the small matter of underarm odor that needs to be addressed. Suddenly staying at home started to feel as though I were camping.

Actually today was day two of this minor saga that has slowly been brewing throughout the summer. Of course I didn't get a hold of the landlord until late in the afternoon when it was too late for the problem to be fixed and my best hope was for sometime tomorrow afternoon. Since this is my first real problem with this landlord, I have no idea how long it will take him to fix it. However, one would think that since he owns a heating and plumbing company that he should have it fixed in no time.

After a quick phone call to make sure that someone was home, I was on my way over to my aunt's house to use her shower. I tried to take a shower at my place, but the cold water was too much for me. It just wasn't going to happen. Besides a person should not shiver when they are in the shower. After my free use of the shower, I was treated to a home cooked meal.
